Lunch Date

September 12, 2012

They caught me taking their photo. They like their privacy. I set up lunch on porch for them — which means I can sit inside and listen to their conversation. I really should record them. Hilarious and insightful. Mae asked her friend, “How did people get born when there was nobody borned yet?” – deep. (Actually, she asked me the same question earlier in the day on the way to school – I really wasn’t ready to open the whole Darwin vs. Religion discussion just yet – I want her to enjoy her world of princesses and rainbows for a few more years)…

I’m so happy Mae is liked by her friends. She’s popular. She’s fun to be around. She’s kind – and – most of all, very loving to all. I must be doing something right.

Fashion Week

September 8, 2012

The girls are always coming up with props for photos — this weeks theme – fashion. BUT, I can’t help but think of Afro Circus.

Garbage Day in the city

September 5, 2012

I try to take her photo in the morning before she heads off to school. Things get too crazy as the day drags on — but I forgot that Wednesday’s are garbage day — and when it’s hot out — well, you can see what Mae thinks of it all.

Last day of summer vacation

September 3, 2012

It was the third of September, a day I’ll always remember… Wait – that’s a Temptations song! 🙂

It’s Mae’s last day of freedom. It’s back to school with her tomorrow. She’ll still be going half days, but it’ll be nice to have a little quiet time again – AND – I won’t be missing her that much since I’ll be right there with her twice a week. I’m looking forward to it – I think.

We’re heading off for a little picnic by the lake. We’re going to enjoy this last day of summer together…
