She loves her Mama

July 5, 2012

There was a time when Mae would want me to do most everything for her. Understandable, given I’m with her all day. Alison and I agreed I’d stay home while she worked. I wanted it that way – I wanted to see what it’s like to raise a child. That’s a blog all it’s own — but I spent / spend a LOT of time with Mae. When she called out in the night, it was for me. When she was hurt, it was me she went running to. It’s a pretty cool feeling.

Now, things are a little different. Mae calls out for her mama in the night. She wants to spend as much time as she possibly can — with her mama. I’m okay with that. I’m still the one who walks her to school. Makes her lunch. Coordinates play dates. Wipes her butt – and smothers her with as many kisses as I can before she complains too much…

Still — there’s nothing quite like a mother / daughter relationship…
