I love her more than the smell of film

June 1, 2012

I must have close to a million images of her by now. Okay, maybe not that many but I do know I have boxes filled with negatives, prints, and instant prints – and – i want to do something special with them. I want to create a story, one day at a time – all about my youngest daughter, Mae. I’ll also take the time to sort through several thousand images I took of her over the last 1686 days. I’m fairly certain I have an image from every day of her life. I think that’s pretty cool, and I intend to continue until either the film runs out – or I do – or Mae revolts and says enough!

I plan on using instant film – both color and black & white – for as long as I can. I think I have at least a 3 year supply, and – at least for now – Fuji still offers their wonderful peel-apart instant films, but they won’t forever – so – I’ll decide what to do when it all goes away. Until then, I plan on having some fun taking at least one image of Mae a day, and share something interesting about her. My hope is one day she’ll sit down and look at her life documented by me. She’s changed my life in so many ways – the least I can do is show her just how wonderful each and every day my life is with her in it.

I love you, Mae.
